Summary
On 5 June 2025 the High Court decided appeals by a former Lukenya area chief, Tirus Ndambuki Musyoka, and two police officers convicted over demands for money to release detained cattle in March 2019. It set aside the convictions on two counts for all of them and ordered refunds of fines paid on those counts. It upheld the former chief's convictions on two other counts concerning KSh40,000 received. The police officers no longer stand convicted. In July 2026 the Court of Appeal gave the former chief more time to file a further appeal.
